  • Glaucoma treatment

It’s a relatively common eye disease that affects about 4 % of the population. Untreated glaucoma can gradually lead to complete vision loss. Unfortunately, in the early stages of the disease the patient has no subjective discomfort and the illness is very inconspicuous. The patients notice problems with vision at the late stages of the disease when treatment is already relatively difficult. For this reason, every patient when attending their normal eye check examination is also preventively examined for the possibility of glaucoma presence. The eye doctor’s aim is to detect the disease in the early stages when treatment can be effective to stabilize the disease and to prevent further vision deterioration. For patients whose glaucoma is proven it’s necessary to carry on with regular check-ups generally every 3 months, to see if the treatment is effective and the disease is not getting worse.
